Demonology Warlock Class Overview

PVE Demonology Warlock Guide, WoW WotLK 3.3.5a

Welcome to my Demonology Warlock DPS guide for World of Warcraft WotLK 3.3.5a. This will be a short guide describing what Talents, Glyphs, Gems and Enchants you will need in order to succeed in a raid. In the end of the guide there are also some tips and basic rotation for the class.

Demonology Warlock is always welcomed in every group due to his buffs and good burst damage capabilities. Cons of this spec would be only big threat generation and no cast pushback reduction while getting damage.

Talent Tree

This build will give a 5% crit chance on the target. Additional spellpower bonus to the raid, which is a really nice amount. Considered to be the maximum dps spec for Demonology Warlocks.

Glyphs

Major Glyphs:
Glyph of Quick Decay
Glyph of Life Tap
Glyph of Felguard

Gems

Gems are used to get your stat caps depending on what you lack, so it is situational

Meta:
Chaotic Skyflare Diamond

Red:
The perfect gem for us would be Runed Cardinal Ruby and you should try to use it in every Red slot possible.

Blue & Yellow:
If the socket bonus grants you 7 spell power or more, then use Purified Dreadstone and Reckless Ametrine in the yellow and blue sockets. But if the bonus gives you less than 7, or some other stat – then ignore the bonus and put Runed Cardinal Ruby.

To reach the Hit Cap you might want to use Veiled Ametrine.

Enchants

Head – Arcanum of Burning Mysteries
Shoulder – Greater Inscription of the Storm
Cloak – Greater Speed
Chest – Powerful Stats
Bracers – Superior Spellpower
Gloves – Exceptional Spellpower
Waist – Eternal Belt Buckle
Legs – Brilliant Spellthread
Boots – Icewalker

Weapons:
Two-handed – Greater Spellpower
One-handed – Mighty Spellpower or Black Magic

Gameplay & Rotations

Demonology Warlocks have a priority system, rather than a strict rotation of skills. You’ll get used to it after a while.

Life Tap – This spell triggers a buff of spell damage. It should be used all the time when the buff is about to wear off, or if you found yourself out of mana.
Shadow Bolt – Is used when the target doesn’t have Improved Shadow Bolt on it or to fill the time between cooldowns.
Immolate – Should be on the target all the time.

Soul Fire – Use it when Molten Core and Decimation are active. If two procs won’t come up, use it with just Decimation
Corruption – Should be on the target all the time
Incinerate – If two procs won’t come up, use it with just Molten Core

Curse of Doom – Is your primary curse while you have an Unholy Death Knight or a Moonkin in your raid.
Curse of the Elements – Used in every other situation.

Metamorphosis – Use as often as possible. It is advisable, that you have it prepared when the Execution phase starts (that’s when the targets health is 35%).
Immolation Aura – Use it only when Metamorphosis is active. Worth using when some additional monsters start spawning.
It’s better to combine Trinket cooldown with Metamorphosis.
Demonic Empowerment – Is used on cooldown. To make it easier, I suggest making a macros for pet-spells that you use. The macros below will use Demonic Empowerment every time your pet casts a spell.

AddOns

Addons play quite a big role in World of Warcraft and should be used by everyone. The question is, what addons do YOU need? Truth is, every player decides for himself what addons does he need or want. Now, there is a list of must-have addons, without them - you won't be taken seriously, or your game will be much more complicated.

Check out our Addons Page which will provide you with download links and configuration information. Addon version is correct for WoW WotLK 3.3.5a.
